Restoration and repair

We  offer a restoration and repair service for  antique and vintage furniture and or collectables.

The most common restore and repair requests relate to tables, chairs, chests of drawers and desks but other items can be tackled as well for example: a 12ft set of wooden loft ladders or 12 Oak barrels!

Restoration/repair might involve a variety of tasks to be undertaken either singularly or as component parts of the whole project including:

  • Paint/varnish stripping (either in the caustic tank or by hand)
  • Inspecting  and removing old repairs (or leaving them as the case may be!)
  • Removing modern materials from older pieces e.g. screws/nails/other fixings and replacing them with  something in keeping etc
  • Repairing damage to the structure eg drawer runners,  cornices, knobs, leg joints etc
  • Replacing broken fixtures with like for like e.g. knobs, leather skiverss, handles, locks etc
  • Re-gluing/dowelling  loose joints
  • Repairing damge/wear to veneer finishes
  • Sanding/wire wool preperation and re finishing as required

We work very closely with other local professionals including a  wood turner, an upholsterer and a french polisher and are therefore within reason are able to tackle most projects.

Bring  your tired antique or vintage furniture back to life with a new look!

Most pine furniture  can be restored, repaired, customised, stripped, painted and or otherwise refinished to give you the look you are after.
